On October 30, Honda Canada said the Civic Type R HRC Concept makes its North American debut at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas, November 3 to 6. Honda calls it an HRC-spec version of the Type R, built with technology from its racing arm and input from its race drivers. That one line is the news. A week ago I wrote that Honda's first HRC parts are U.S.-only for now. This is different. Honda Canada named Canada itself, in its own release.
Now what isn't in the release. No on-sale date. No price. No specs, not even a horsepower figure. Honda first showed the concept at the 2026 Tokyo Auto Salon, and "in development" is all it has said about a road version here. So I'm treating it as a real plan with no timetable.
On the floor, the Type R is already a car people wait for. The refreshed 2027 model only just landed, and I covered it in my 2027 Civic Type R story. A hotter version "in development" gives some buyers a reason to hold off. I don't think most of them should.
My prediction: By October 31, 2027, Honda Canada will publish a Canadian price for a production Civic Type R HRC model. The release already names Canada, and that's a step Honda skipped with its U.S.-only HRC parts. I'm wrong if, by that date, no Honda Canada release or honda.ca page lists a Canadian price for it.
