The 2027 Civic Type R Keeps the Manual, Finally Gets Heated Seats, and Allocation Is Scarce

The news: Honda Canada lists the refreshed 2027 Civic Type R at 10.8 L/100 km city, 8.3 highway and 9.7 combined. It still makes 315 horsepower from the turbocharged K20C engine and is offered only with a manual. New for 2027: a bolder front end with a deeper splitter and larger grille opening, changes to improve engine cooling for track driving, heated front seats for the first time, Ultrasuede on the instrument panel and upper door panels, Google built-in with Gemini, Alexa built-in, two USB-C ports and a Post-Collision Braking System. A new colour, Meteoroid Grey Metallic, joins Boost Blue and Championship White. Honda says it arrives at dealers later this fall and has not given an exact date. Honda Canada Newsroom

What it means: Honda did not touch the power figure. The money went into the things that decide whether a Type R is a car you can live with: engine cooling for people who take it to a track, heated seats for people in Ontario who drive it in January, and the phone-and-voice tech that is standard on the 2027. That is a car aimed at someone who wants one performance car for everything, not a second weekend toy. The part to watch is allocation. A Type R does not sit on the lot.
