Near-new Hondas. Demo-special pricing.
The moment a Honda demo crosses 6,000 km on the odometer, it can no longer be sold as new — and that’s when Maple Honda lists it as a demo special at MSRP, with no freight and no PDI added on top. You save the freight + PDI that a new car would carry (about $2,000 + tax), and you get a car that’s mechanically and cosmetically close to new. Demos move fast — text Henry for what’s on the lot this week.
The rule that creates a demo special
Honda Canada’s new-vehicle status is tied to the odometer, not the calendar. Until a unit hits 6,000 km it can still be advertised and sold as new. The moment it rolls past that mark, it has to be reclassified — and that’s exactly when Maple Honda lists it on this page at a discounted price.
Most demos list around 6000km. They’ve been driven as test cars, weekend loaners, or staff vehicles, then moved out of the new-car lineup the moment they cross the threshold.
What is a demo special, exactly?
How a demo ends up on the lot
A demo starts life as a regular new Honda in the Maple Honda inventory. The dealership drives it — on test loops with shoppers, as a weekend loaner for a service customer, or by staff running local trips. It’s a real Honda, with a real VIN, registered in the dealership’s name.
After enough kilometres to put it past the 6,000 km threshold, it can no longer be sold as new. The dealer relists it as a demo at MSRP, with no freight and no PDI added. That’s what you see on this page.
What you get at the demo price
- MSRP, no freight, no PDI — the same model new would add freight and PDI on top of MSRP; a demo skips both. That’s about $2,000 + tax in your pocket.
- Warranty starts at the in-service date — when the demo was first put on the road, not when you buy. Ask Henry for that date on any unit you’re considering.
- Low kilometres — usually around 6000km.
- Current model-year trim — demos are essentially the same cars sitting in the new-car showroom.
- New oil change at delivery — a new oil change will be done when you take the vehicle.
- No prior private owner — the only history on the Carfax is dealership use.

Why a demo is a smart buy
You save the freight & PDI
A new Honda is priced at MSRP plus freight and PDI on top. A demo is priced at MSRP with neither added — saving you about $2,000 + tax on the same model, same trim, same features.
You still get the new-car experience
No mystery about the previous owner, no private-party Carfax gaps. The car is essentially new — same trim, same model year, same features — just with a few thousand kilometres on it and a lower sticker.
Warranty starts when the demo is first put on the road
The factory 3-year / 60,000 km new-vehicle warranty and 5-year / 100,000 km powertrain warranty both start at the demo’s in-service date — not at your purchase date. If it is a hybrid, the hybrid system has an 8-year / 160,000 km limited warranty. The unit has 4,000 km on it because the dealer drove it for a few months; the warranty clock has run for those few months too. Ask Henry for the in-service date so you know exactly how much time and kilometres are left.
Demo vs new vs pre-owned
| Brand new | Demo special | Pre-owned | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Odometer | 0–200 km | ~6000km | Anywhere — usually 20,000 km+ |
| Price vs MSRP | MSRP + freight + PDI + dealer fee | MSRP only — no freight, no PDI (save ~$2,000 + tax) | Varies — usually the largest discount |
| New-car warranty remaining | Full (clock starts at your purchase) | Whatever time/km is left from the in-service date | Whatever is left from the in-service date |
| Model-year spread | Current | Current | Older model years often available |
| Trim availability | Full | Limited — whatever demos are in rotation | Wide selection |
| Previous use | None | Dealership test drives / loaners / staff | Private owner(s) or lease return |
| Best for | Custom order, exact spec | Current model, low km, save vs new | Older model years, larger discount, wider trim choice |
Common questions about Honda demos
What is a Honda demo special?
A demo special is a near-new Honda the dealership drove as a demonstrator — for test drives, weekend loaners, or staff use. Once the odometer crosses 6,000 km it can no longer be sold as brand-new, so Maple Honda prices it as a demo at MSRP with no freight and no PDI added. You get a car that is mechanically and cosmetically close to new — same trim, same model year, same original warranty terms — but the warranty clock has already started from the day the demo was first put on the road, and the price skips the freight + PDI a new car would carry (about $2,000 + tax in your pocket).
Why 6,000 km specifically?
Honda Canada’s new-vehicle status is tied to the odometer, not the calendar. Once a unit rolls past 6,000 km it has to be reclassified — at that point the dealer prices it as a demo rather than a new car. That’s where the savings come from.
Are demos reliable? Should I be worried about how the previous driver treated it?
Demos are typically driven by dealership staff on short trips — dealer test loops, weekend loaners, internal shuttles. They get the same maintenance schedule as new inventory (regular oil changes, tire rotations, multi-point inspections). They usually list around 6000km.
Do demos still have the full Honda warranty?
From the buyer’s perspective, no — the warranty clock has already started. The original 3-year / 60,000 km new-vehicle warranty and 5-year / 100,000 km powertrain warranty both start on the day the demo is first put on the road (the in-service date), not on the day you buy. If it is a hybrid, the hybrid system has an 8-year / 160,000 km limited warranty. A demo that’s been on the road for 4 months with 3,000 km still has about 2 years 8 months and 57,000 km of new-vehicle coverage and 4 years 8 months of powertrain coverage left. Ask Henry for the in-service date on any specific unit and he’ll tell you exactly what’s remaining.
How much can I save on a demo?
A new Honda is priced at MSRP + freight + PDI + dealer fee. A demo is priced at MSRP only — no freight, no PDI added on top. That’s roughly $2,000 + tax in your pocket versus buying the same model new, before any in-service depreciation discount the dealer may also pass along. Henry will quote the unit-specific price on request.
How is a demo different from a pre-owned Honda?
A pre-owned Honda is typically a trade-in or off-lease vehicle that has had a private owner. A demo is essentially a near-new vehicle that has had only dealership use. Demos usually have far lower km, are usually under the original new-car warranty (with the clock running from the in-service date), and are usually in current model-year trim. Pre-owned gives you more model-year spread and more trim choice; demos give you newer condition at MSRP with no freight or PDI added.
