Toyota Canada Inc. sold 22,473 vehicles in August 2026, up 2.9% from August 2025, including a record 14,461 electrified units. Mazda Canada sold 7,592 vehicles in August, down 8.2% from 8,274 a year earlier. Both OEM releases went out September 1. As of September 9, Honda Canada’s newsroom still has no August 2026 retail-sales release. I will not invent a Honda or CR-V unit total. Toyota Canada · Mazda Canada
What it means: Labour Day sat on September 7, so the first full business week after August closed later than usual. That is a fair delay, not a scandal. It is still a pattern. Toyota and Mazda put a number on the board on day one. Honda Canada is quieter on the monthly scoreboard, and shoppers fill the silence with screenshots from U.S. releases or third-party tallies. Those are not Honda Canada figures. I already used Toyota’s electrified mix on September 8 and Mazda’s CX-5 print on September 6. The new fact today is the gap that is still open.
On the floor, the useful number is not last month’s national rank. It is whether the Civic Hybrid or CR-V Hybrid you want is on a written September quote. DesRosiers estimated the whole Canadian market at about 168,000 units in August, up 5.4%, which I covered on September 4. That is industry volume, not a Honda mix. Until Honda Canada posts its own retail table, I will talk inventory, program and the car in front of you — not a guessed CR-V count.
My prediction: By October 1, 2026, Honda Canada will still not have posted a standalone August 2026 retail-sales unit total on hondanews.ca. I will be wrong if that August 2026 Honda Canada unit table appears before October 1.
If you're buying right now: Do not wait for a Honda Canada August scoreboard to decide a CR-V or Civic that already fits. Use the written September quote, then compare the Honda you can see against the rival print Toyota and Mazda already published — starting with RAV4 vs CR-V in Vaughan if that is the cross-shop.
Quick answers
Has Honda Canada published August 2026 sales numbers?
Not as of September 9, 2026. Honda Canada's newsroom has no August 2026 retail-sales release. Toyota Canada posted 22,473 units on September 1, and Mazda Canada posted 7,592 units the same day. Do not treat a third-party tally as a Honda Canada figure.
How many vehicles did Toyota and Mazda sell in Canada in August 2026?
Toyota Canada Inc. sold 22,473 vehicles in August 2026, up 2.9% from August 2025, with a record 14,461 electrified units. Mazda Canada sold 7,592 vehicles, down 8.2% from 8,274 a year earlier. Those are official OEM releases, not Honda counts.
Should I wait to buy a CR-V until Honda Canada posts August sales?
No. A missing monthly scoreboard is not a reason to pause a written September Honda Financial Services quote. Honda Canada's September program, including Stretch Lease on select models, is the document that prices the car in front of you.
Waiting on Honda Canada’s August number?
Send the model and the quote you already have. I will tell you whether September’s program, the car on the lot, or a rival’s published mix is the cleaner input — not a CR-V count Honda Canada has not posted.
