On August 6, 2026, Montreal firm Lex Group filed an application for authorization to institute a class action in the Superior Court of Quebec. The proposed class is persons in Quebec who purchased, leased or owned a Honda or Acura painted in White Diamond Pearl (NH-603P), Taffeta White (NH-578), White Orchid Pearl / Bellanova White (NH-788P), or Platinum White Pearl (NH-883P), model years 2013 to present, including Civic, CR-V, HR-V, Accord, Odyssey, Pilot, Fit and Acura MDX. The filing alleges peeling, delamination or blistering of that factory white paint. It is an application. The court has not authorized a class. Honda Canada has not published a matching paint recall. What it means: A Quebec application is a lawyer asking a court for permission to proceed. It is not a Transport Canada campaign, not a Honda Canada technical service bulletin posted to owners, and not proof that every white Honda peels. noted Honda Canada has faced white-paint litigation before; a prior Civic-era case settled in 2022. I will not republish settlement dollars from secondary write-ups that do not agree with each other. The useful owner move is narrower: check the VIN, look at the paint in daylight, and do not treat a filing screenshot as a defect on the car in your driveway.
Ontario shoppers keep asking whether they are “in the class.” On the firm’s own page, the proposed class is Quebec. That does not make Ontario paint magically immune, and it does not enroll a Vaughan Civic automatically. If you are shopping used, the service trail that usually exists is on the CARFAX Canada report, not a folder of paper body-shop receipts. Walk the hood, roof and trunk edges yourself. If the clearcoat is chalking or lifting, get a written body-shop opinion before you sign — whether or not a Quebec judge has spoken.
My prediction: By March 9, 2027, Honda Canada will not issue a Transport Canada recall covering White Diamond Pearl, Taffeta White, White Orchid Pearl / Bellanova White, or Platinum White Pearl on 2013-present Civic, CR-V, HR-V, Accord, Odyssey or Pilot. Paint claims will stay case-by-case goodwill, not a campaign. I will be wrong if Transport Canada lists a Honda recall for those white paints on those models before March 9, 2027.
If you're buying right now: Do not skip a white Honda because of an unauthorized Quebec application. Do not ignore peeling you can see. Check the VIN at honda.ca/recalls, look at the paint in daylight, and if you are shopping used start with today’s best pre-owned Honda rather than treating a lawsuit screenshot as a Carfax substitute.
Quick answers
Is Honda recalling white-paint vehicles in Canada?
No matching paint recall has been published. Lex Group filed an application for authorization in the Superior Court of Quebec on August 6, 2026, alleging peeling or delamination of certain factory white paints on 2013-present Honda and Acura models. An application is not a recall. Check your VIN at honda.ca/recalls.
Does the Quebec white-paint class action cover Ontario Honda owners?
Lex Group describes the proposed class as persons in Quebec who purchased, leased or owned a listed white-painted Honda or Acura from 2013 to present. Ontario owners are not automatically in that proposed class. A Quebec filing is not a Canada-wide proven defect.
Which Honda colours are named in the Quebec paint filing?
The application names White Diamond Pearl (NH-603P), Taffeta White (NH-578), White Orchid Pearl / Bellanova White (NH-788P), and Platinum White Pearl (NH-883P) on listed models including Civic, CR-V, HR-V, Accord, Odyssey, Pilot, Fit and Acura MDX. Those are allegations in a filing, not a Honda Canada recall list.
Looking at a white Honda and a lawsuit screenshot?
Send the year, colour and a daylight photo of the hood and roof. I will tell you whether I would treat it as a paint conversation, a VIN check, or a reason to walk away — without pretending a Quebec application is a recall.
