TL;DR
- CarGurus: the used Honda HR-V averaged 36.6 days on a Canadian dealer lot in August, the 3rd-fastest of any used model tracked. The Civic was 6th at 37.7 days. Meanwhile the CR-V's average used price fell 8.8% year over year to $25,614, and the Civic's fell 8.1% to $20,571.
- Canadian Black Book: wholesale used-vehicle values fell 0.19% for the week ending September 12, up from a 0.05% decline the week before. Mid-size crossover/SUV — CR-V's segment — was down 0.58%.
- Same story from two directions: strong demand for the right used Honda, softer pricing underneath it at both retail and wholesale.

Both reports landed the same day and they're describing the same market from opposite ends. A used HR-V sells in about five weeks because there's real demand for it at its price point. A used CR-V or Civic taking a little longer, and pricing 8–9% below where it sat a year ago, says the same thing from the supply side — there's more of both on the market now than there was in 2025, mostly from lease returns and trade-ins working their way through the system. And the wholesale numbers, which move ahead of what shows up on a lot or in a trade-in offer, are telling dealers the same thing a full week before it reaches a retail sticker. None of this means the used market is in trouble. It means the easy pricing power dealers had for the last two years is fading, and both buyers and sellers have a real reason to move on their own timeline rather than either rush or stall out of habit. Quick answers
What is the September 19 Honda brief about?
Two used-market reports published the same day: CarGurus data showing the used Honda HR-V among Canada's fastest-turning used vehicles at 36.6 days on lot, while used CR-V and Civic prices both fell year over year; and Canadian Black Book data showing wholesale used-vehicle values fell 0.19% for the week ending September 12, a steeper drop than the week before.
Is now a good time to buy or trade in a used Honda?
It depends which side of the transaction you're on. Buyers are seeing softer used CR-V and Civic prices, which favours a little patience unless you want an HR-V specifically, where fast turnover means good units don't sit. Sellers and trade-ins are seeing wholesale values slide, which typically shows up in trade-in offers before retail listings — getting an appraisal sooner rather than later is the safer move if you're planning to trade.
