The news: CarGurus data for August 2026, reported by Canadian Auto Dealer on September 18, found the used Honda HR-V averaged 36.6 days on a Canadian dealer lot before selling — the 3rd-fastest of the ten fastest-turning used models nationally, behind only the Subaru Crosstrek (35 days) and Ford F-150 (36 days). The Honda Civic placed 6th on that same speed list at 37.7 days. Separately, among Canada's ten best-selling used vehicles in August, the CR-V recorded the largest year-over-year price decline of the group — down 8.8% to an average of $25,614 — and the Civic was down 8.1% to $20,571. CarGurus reported every vehicle on the fastest-moving list spent less time on lot than in August 2025. Canadian Auto Dealer

What it means: Speed of sale and price direction are two different numbers, and this report has both moving against each other for Honda. The HR-V selling in barely five weeks says buyer demand for that size and price point is still strong. The CR-V and Civic price drops say the opposite is happening at the same time on value — there's enough supply of both now, mostly from lease returns and trade-ins from the 2022–2024 sales years, that dealers are cutting asking prices to keep them moving instead of banking on scarcity. Both things can be true on the same lot: a car can turn fast and still be worth less than it was a year ago.

For Henry's own lot, that matches what's actually happening day to day — cars still sell, but the number on the sticker to make that happen has come down from where it sat a year ago. That's good news if you're buying; it's the reason to get ahead of it if you're trading one in.

My prediction: CarGurus' next monthly report, covering September 2026, will show the used CR-V's year-over-year price decline at 8% or steeper nationally, extending August's 8.8% drop, because off-lease CR-V supply keeps building faster than demand through Q4. I'll be wrong if that report shows the CR-V's year-over-year decline narrowing back under 8%.

If you're buying right now: If you're cross-shopping a used CR-V, the price trend still favours a little patience. If you want a used HR-V specifically, don't wait on that one — at a five-week average turn, the best-priced units go first. See what's actually on our lot today on today's best pre-owned Honda.

Quick answers

How fast is a used Honda HR-V selling in Canada right now?

CarGurus data for August 2026, as reported by Canadian Auto Dealer on September 18, put the used Honda HR-V at an average of 36.6 days on a dealer lot before selling — the 3rd-fastest of Canada's ten fastest-turning used models, behind only the Subaru Crosstrek (35 days) and Ford F-150 (36 days). The Honda Civic was 6th on that same list at 37.7 days.

Are used Honda CR-V and Civic prices falling?

Yes, on the evidence in that report. Among Canada's ten best-selling used vehicles in August 2026, the Honda CR-V recorded the largest year-over-year price decline of the group, down 8.8% to an average of $25,614. The Honda Civic was down 8.1% to $20,571.

Does a fast-selling used HR-V mean prices are rising for it too?

Not on the data available. The CarGurus report covers days-on-lot separately from the price-decline figures, which were reported for the CR-V and Civic specifically, not the HR-V. A vehicle can turn over quickly and still be priced to move — speed of sale and price direction are two different numbers, and this report does not say the HR-V is exempt from the pricing pressure the rest of the used market is seeing.
