The federal announcement says the fleet-average light-duty vehicle GHG performance standard will remain at its 2026 level, 172 g/mile, through 2029. Annual increases are scheduled to resume for model year 2030. This is a fleet-average manufacturer standard, not a requirement that each new vehicle be electric. Driving.ca Newswire

The change affects the fleet-average standard manufacturers must meet; it does not determine the equipment, fuel economy or price of any one Honda model. It also does not announce a Honda product or production plan.
The 75% EV sales figure is a federal target for 2035, not a rule that every buyer or individual model must be electric. This standards announcement does not establish that Ring of Fire minerals will reach a specific battery supply chain or change vehicle prices.
My forecast is that Honda Canada will prioritize hybrid offerings through mid-2027. That is my interpretation of its public product plans; the regulatory change itself does not reveal Honda's future mix of hybrids and battery-electric vehicles.
The standards change does not decide which powertrain costs less for your driving. Compare current purchase price, fuel use, financing and your expected kilometres using the actual trims and offers available to you.
