Photo: Lexus Canada. 2027 Lexus ES 350h. The hybrid Signature trim is the priced-to-sell door into an exclusively electrified sedan.
The news: Lexus Canada, on September 15, put the 2027 ES on sale as an exclusively electrified sedan — hybrid or battery-electric, no gas-only grade. The ES 350h Signature starts at $59,685 MSRP. The ES 350e Signature, the front-drive battery-electric counterpart, starts at $62,650. That is a $2,965 hybrid discount on the entry sticker. The hybrid makes 244 combined horsepower with all-wheel drive. The 350e is 221 system horsepower, front-wheel drive, with an estimated range of up to 480 km. The 500e is 338 system horsepower with DIRECT4 all-wheel drive, from $65,640. Twelve grades in total. Lexus Canada
What it means: Lexus did not hide the EV. It priced the hybrid underneath it. That is the tell I hear on the Vaughan floor when someone walks in off a Lexus quote: they wanted the badge and the quiet cabin, then the payment math pulled them back to a plug-free hybrid. The 350h is all-wheel drive. The cheaper EV is front-wheel drive. For a GTA winter driver, that gap is not a footnote.
Honda Canada is not in that pairing. The 2026 Accord on honda.ca is still SE gas, Sport-L Hybrid and Touring Hybrid. The hybrid trims use Honda's two-motor 2.0-litre system, 204 hp combined, 5.3 L/100 km combined, front-wheel drive. There is no Accord EV page. I will not invent an Accord dollar figure here — confirm current selling price on honda.ca or with a written quote. The comparison that matters is architecture, not a screenshot of someone else's invoice. Lexus is selling an electrified luxury sedan with the hybrid as the priced door. Honda is still selling a midsize hybrid sedan with a gas trim still on the sheet.
My prediction: On December 20, 2026, honda.ca will still list Accord as SE gas, Sport-L Hybrid and Touring Hybrid, and will not have an Accord battery-electric model page, because Honda Canada has already confirmed it is not bringing a small EV sedan here and has not announced an Accord EV. I will be wrong if honda.ca publishes an Accord EV model page by that date.
If you're buying right now: If a Lexus ES quote is what brought you in, walk the hybrid-versus-EV sticker on paper before you fall in love with a screen. Then put the same drive against Accord Hybrid on considering Lexus over Honda in Vaughan — same commute, same winter, written numbers, not a badge feeling.
