2027 Honda Passport TrailSport Gets a Real Lift — Not Just Taller Springs.

Honda comprehensively re-designed the TrailSport suspension, raised ground clearance to 245 mm / 9.6 in, and made TrailWatch standard on every trim. Canadian arrival is this fall. Pricing still TBA.

TL;DR

Honda has never been shy about dressing the Passport TrailSport like a trail vehicle. For 2027 the hardware finally matches the look. This is not a set of taller springs bolted on and called a day. Engineers redesigned the majority of the suspension so the extra height does not turn the steering vague or the ride floaty on the 400.

Honda Canada puts that 245 mm above the Toyota 4Runner TRD Off-Road Premium, the Subaru Outback Wilderness and the Ford Bronco Sport Badlands Sasquatch. That is Honda's own comparison, so read it as marketing — but the practical win for a GTA owner is simpler: fewer scraped bumpers and underbody hits on cottage roads, construction sites, and the odd muddy trail near the Muskoka or Haliburton cottage. Better breakover clearance helps when cresting a steep approach so the middle of the vehicle does not hang up.

What actually changed underneath

Honda's own framing is that rather than simply adding taller springs, its engineers comprehensively re-designed the suspension so the geometry still delivers the handling and ride they want while the vehicle gains real capability. Honda Canada has not published a component count or a percentage, so I am not going to put one on this page.

That is why the brand can claim better steering feel on pavement at the same time as more clearance. Lifting a unibody crossover usually makes it feel tall and vague; keeping it planted while adding more than an inch of height is the harder engineering job.

Tech that actually helps on a trail

TrailWatch moves from the top trim to standard across the TrailSport lineup. You get front, rear, side and 360-degree views plus tire-placement graphics. For a vehicle this size, visibility around rocks, curbs and rutted edges is often the real limit — not the approach angle on a press release. A heated steering wheel also becomes standard.

Exterior updates are evolutionary: more pronounced fender flares, a resculpted lower front fascia, and amber LED accents in the hood scoop that echo the Passport’s signature amber daytime running lights.

GTA buyer angle: In Canada the Passport is TrailSport-only. If you are already on a 2026 wait list or deciding between a late-2026 delivery and a 2027, the extra clearance and standard TrailWatch are real upgrades. 2027 pricing has not been published. Ask me for today’s 2026 TrailSport selling price on the trim you want and I will send the all-in number in writing — a range printed on a page goes stale the week the program changes. Confirm the exact Canadian package and ETA with the store when the fall allocation opens.

Why this matters for Honda (and for you)

TrailSport already accounts for the large majority of Passport sales. Honda is doubling down on what is working rather than inventing a new niche. Most owners will never use every degree of the new approach angle — and that is fine. Knowing the vehicle can clear a rough cottage road or a snow-packed driveway without drama is part of the appeal. The useful change for daily drivers is the combination of height plus cameras that help you place the tires where you intend.

Quick answers

How much more ground clearance does the 2027 Passport TrailSport get?

245 mm / 9.6 in, up 35 mm / 1.4 in. Honda Canada says approach, departure and breakover angles all improve, but has not published the new figures — ask me once the Canadian spec sheet is out.

When does the 2027 Passport TrailSport arrive in Canada?

Honda Canada points to arrival this fall. 2027 pricing has not been published. Ask me for today’s 2026 TrailSport selling price on the trim you want and I will send the all-in number in writing — a range printed on a page goes stale the week the program changes.

Is TrailWatch now standard on every Passport TrailSport?

Yes. Honda Canada lists the TrailWatch multi-view camera system and a heated steering wheel as standard on every Passport TrailSport trim for 2027.

Shopping a Passport or weighing 2026 vs 2027?

Send the trim you want and the timeline you are working with. I will tell you what is realistic on the current allocation versus waiting for the lifted 2027, and whether the written quote already in hand is the cleaner move.
