I probably answer more questions about the Civic Si than any other single car on the lot, relative to how many I actually sell. It has a reputation, people come in specifically to sit in one, and then a fair number of them leave with a Civic Sport Hybrid instead once we talk through what the Si actually asks of a daily driver. Neither outcome is wrong. It just means the Si is a car you should understand clearly before you commit to it, not one to buy on reputation alone.
What you're actually getting
The 2026 Civic Si comes one way: $36,700 CAD MSRP, before freight, PDI and taxes. There's no trim ladder to climb and no options list to agonize over — that simplicity is part of its appeal. Under the hood is a 1.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder making 200 hp at 6,000 rpm and 192 lb-ft of torque at 1,800 rpm, sent to the front wheels through a helical limited-slip differential. Trunk space is a genuinely useful 419 L, the largest in its class of sporty compacts.

The two things that actually decide this for most people
One: it's manual-only. Not manual-standard-with-an-automatic-option — manual only, full stop. There's no automatic Civic Si to fall back on if you decide halfway through the test drive that three pedals in Highway 400 traffic isn't for you. If you don't already know how to drive a stick, or you're not genuinely excited to learn, that's the whole conversation, right there. The 6-speed comes with rev-match control, which smooths out downshifts nicely, but it doesn't change what the car fundamentally is.
Two: it's front-wheel drive, not all-wheel drive. The helical limited-slip differential genuinely helps put power down cleanly off the line and through corners — it's a real piece of hardware, not a marketing line — but it isn't AWD. On good winter tires, plenty of my Vaughan customers drive the Si year-round without drama. If what you actually want is the peace of mind of all-wheel drive specifically for winter, the Si was never built to be that car, and no amount of enthusiasm changes that.
Who I'd actually put in one
If you already drive a manual, or grew up driving one and miss it, and your commute isn't pure gridlock every single day — the Si is a genuinely rewarding daily car, not a stripped-down track toy you tolerate the rest of the week. The cabin is comfortable, with heated front and rear seats and a 12-speaker BOSE system standard, so it doesn't feel like a compromise the other 90% of the time you're not carving a corner. If you want the most engaging car in Honda's lineup short of the Type R, without the Type R's price jump or its more aggressive daily-driving character, the Si sits in a genuinely good spot.
Who's probably happier elsewhere in the lineup
If Vaughan-to-downtown gridlock is your actual daily reality and a manual sounds fun in theory but exhausting in practice at 6 p.m. on the 400, the Civic Sport Hybrid gives you strong performance feel with none of the clutch-pedal tax, plus far better fuel economy. If all-wheel drive is a non-negotiable for you, the Si was never going to be the answer regardless of how much you like the way it drives — look at CR-V instead. And if you want more performance than the Si offers and you're not worried about the jump in price, the Civic Type R is the step up, built on the same Alliston line as the Si.
Henry's honest take: the Si rewards people who genuinely want to drive a manual, not people who think they should want to. Come test drive one in actual Vaughan traffic, not just around the block — that's the only way to know for certain which category you're in.
Frequently asked, Vaughan edition
How much is the 2026 Honda Civic Si in Canada?
$36,700 CAD MSRP, before freight, PDI, and taxes. It comes one way — there's no trim ladder to climb, so that number is the whole decision on price.
Does the Civic Si come with an automatic transmission?
No. The 2026 Civic Si is offered exclusively with a 6-speed manual transmission with rev-match control. If you want a Civic with an automatic, you're looking at the Civic Sedan gas or hybrid trims instead.
Is the Civic Si good to drive in a Vaughan winter?
It's front-wheel drive only, with a helical limited-slip differential that genuinely helps traction off the line. On good winter tires it's a perfectly capable daily driver through a GTA winter — plenty of Vaughan owners do exactly that — but it isn't all-wheel drive, so if you specifically want AWD for winter peace of mind, the Si isn't that car.
