Used Odyssey Is Still a Different Market Than Used Civic

National used listing prices have stabilized below last year. That average hides the Honda split: seven-seat vans stay scarce, compact cars give buyers more room.

Canadian Auto Dealer reported August 13 that CARFAX Canada’s mid-year update put June used-vehicle inventory up 15.5% from May and 2.5% from a year earlier. National average listing prices were $31,487, up 0.2% month over month and down 4.7% from June 2025, after five months inside a roughly $31,000 to $31,500 range. Canadian Auto Dealer / CARFAX Canada

What it means: The used market is no longer a shortage story. Buyers have more listings to walk. That does not mean every Honda got cheap. A national average hides the split I see on trades: a clean Odyssey still feels like a scarce family tool, while a Civic or Accord has more comparable cars sitting next to it.

CarGurus Canada’s current Honda listing index is useful as a model-level check, not as a guaranteed selling price. It shows Honda overall easing over the past month, with Civic and Accord listings moving down more than Odyssey, which has been firmer year over year. Treat those as listing-mix signals. They mix model years. They still match the floor: seven seats are harder to replace than a compact car.

If you are selling or trading, condition still outruns the chart. A Honda with CARFAX service-history entries, two keys and no mystery lights is not the same asset as an average one that needs work. If you are buying used, start with today’s best pre-owned Honda and the used Honda Vaughan hub rather than assuming the national average applies to the van you actually need.

My prediction: By February 28, 2027, Honda Canada’s advertised Odyssey lease APR will still sit at least 1.50 percentage points above the advertised Civic Sedan LX lease APR, because the van does not need the same subvention the Civic uses to stay in the conversation — August’s Ontario examples were 5.19% on Odyssey Sport versus 3.39% on Civic Sedan LX.

If you're buying right now: if you need seven seats, shop the actual used Odyssey on the lot and compare it to the new Odyssey program. Do not wait for a Civic-style discount that the van market is not offering.

Quick answers

Are used Honda prices falling in Canada?

National used listing prices have been stable in a narrow band according to CARFAX Canada’s mid-year update, while remaining below year-ago levels. Model mix still matters: family vans and clean crossovers do not move like compact cars.

Why would a used Odyssey hold better than a used Civic?

Minivan supply is tighter than compact-car supply. If you need seven seats now, you are shopping a thinner shelf. A Civic shopper has more comparable listings and more room to walk.

Should I buy used or new Honda this week?

Compare the same job. A near-new CR-V against the new CR-V program, or a used Odyssey against the new Odyssey lease example. Condition, kilometres and CARFAX service-history entries decide used; the written September program will decide new.

Trading a Civic or shopping a used Odyssey?

Send the year, kilometres and whether the CARFAX report shows dealer service-history entries. I will tell you if you are in the car market or the van market — they are not pricing the same way.
