Every February, the Canadian International AutoShow takes over the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Honda brings the lineup, the dealerships send their best salespeople, and the show floor is full of GTA buyers comparing Civics, CR-Vs, and Pilots side by side.
The AutoShow is genuinely useful for narrowing down what you want. It's less useful for actually signing a deal — show-floor deals often come with show-floor pressure. Here's how to use the AutoShow without bringing home the wrong car.
What the AutoShow is good for
- Comparing models side by side — interior space, cargo capacity, seat comfort
- Trying trim levels you'd never sit in at a dealership
- Asking questions of Honda Canada's product specialists
- Meeting the salespeople from multiple GTA Honda dealerships in one place
- Getting a feel for new model-year changes before they hit the showroom
- Hearing Honda Canada's pricing and incentive announcements
What the AutoShow isn't good for
- Signing a deal on the spot — the pressure is high and the negotiation leverage is low
- Getting a price that's significantly below what the dealership will offer after the show
- Replacing a test drive — you can't drive a car at the AutoShow
- Replacing homework on financing, insurance, and warranty

How to use the AutoShow without signing under pressure
- Walk the show first before talking to any dealer
- Sit in every Honda you're considering — bring a tape measure if cargo or back-seat space matters
- Talk to multiple dealers — collect business cards, ask about their post-show promotions
- Get the printed price sheet for any trim you're seriously considering
- Take photos of any incentives, lease offers, or financing specials posted at the show
- Schedule a follow-up test drive at the dealership for any vehicle you're seriously considering
- Don't put a deposit on the show floor unless you're prepared to walk away if the post-show deal is better
The OMVIC angle at the AutoShow
Every Honda dealer at the AutoShow is OMVIC-registered. The same MVDA framework applies whether you buy at the show or at the dealership. All-in pricing, mandatory disclosures, registration verification — none of that changes.
Use the OMVIC dealer-search tool to verify every dealer you talk to at the show before you sign anything. Some 'private seller' booths at smaller shows are actually curbsiders — if a deal looks too good to be true, check the dealer register.
What to ask each dealer at the show
- What's your post-show promotion? (Most dealers run a separate promotion after the AutoShow ends.)
- What's the all-in price on the trim I'm interested in?
- What's the current finance rate and lease rate?
- Are there any Honda Canada incentives on this model?
- When can I come in for a real test drive?
- What's your trade-in process if I have a car to bring?
The post-show follow-up
The week after the AutoShow is when GTA dealerships typically run their strongest promotions of the year. They have leads from the show, they need to convert them, and the AutoShow incentive money from Honda Canada is at its peak.
If you have three or four quotes from show-floor conversations, the post-show week is when you compare them head-to-head. A dealer who gave you a soft number at the show will often sharpen it after the show if you come back with a competing quote.
Frequently asked, Vaughan edition
Should I buy a car at the AutoShow?
Generally no, unless you've done enough homework beforehand to know exactly what you want and the show deal is genuinely the best you'll find. The AutoShow is for comparing and learning. The dealership is for buying — usually the week after the show.
Are AutoShow deals better than dealership deals?
Sometimes. The AutoShow is when Honda Canada releases its strongest incentive programs, and dealers are competing for show leads. But the same incentives usually extend through the month after the show. Don't let show pressure push you into a deal you can't replicate the following week.
Is financing offered at the AutoShow the same as dealership financing?
Usually yes — Honda Financial Services offers the same rates through dealers and at the show. But the dealer-arranged financing through the show floor can sometimes carry a higher reserve (dealer commission). Verify the rate against your own bank's pre-approval before signing at the show.
Want me to walk through the OMVIC piece of your next deal?
If you have a quote from another store, a private sale you're considering, or just a question about how OMVIC's rules apply to your situation, send me the details. I will help you pressure-test the structure.
