The 2026 Honda Prelude hybrid sports coupe is now on sale in Canada at approximately $49,990 CAD MSRP destination-included (single Canadian launch trim per Henry Chen's dealer-side window-sticker confirmation, priority-1 source per the site fact reference; with freight, PDI, HST and fees, out-the-door commonly lands near $57,500). One trim, no option packages. Per Honda Canada, the Prelude pairs the 2.0L Atkinson-cycle + two-motor hybrid system (shared with the Civic Hybrid) with the dual-axis strut front suspension from the Civic Type R, plus a standard Adaptive Damper System (ADS) and Brembo front brake calipers. Combined output: up to 200 hp and up to 232 lb-ft of torque. Fuel economy rating: per the Honda Canada NRCan listing, approximately 5.0 L/100 km city / 5.6 L/100 km combined for the single Canadian launch trim — confirm current ratings on the Honda Canada spec sheet before quoting precisely. What it means: There is no other sporty hybrid coupe in Canada at this price. The closest gas alternatives — Nissan Z from $50,998, Genesis G70 from $56,150 — are both conventionally powered with worse fuel economy and no hybrid story. Honda is pricing the Prelude to make you feel like you're getting Type R chassis engineering at Accord money. The one-trim approach is deliberate: Honda doesn't want to negotiate against itself. First allocations will be limited. On a car like this, dealers historically attach ADM (above dealer markup) on first-run builds.

My prediction: The Prelude's first GTA allocation sells through with markup attached — dealer asking price above $52,988 — before August 2026, because there is no competing product in this segment and Honda will not restrict ADM on limited first-run units. By late fall, once inventory normalizes, the markup disappears and the car becomes a genuine value proposition.

If you're buying right now: If you want a Prelude, get your name on a list this week — not next month. This is a one-trim model so there's nothing to spec or wait for. If you're price-sensitive, waiting until fall when initial allocation pressure eases is likely worth it. If you're in a hurry, expect to be asked to pay over sticker on the first deliveries.
